On Monday, September 14, alumni, parents and friends of Loyola Academy gathered at North Shore Country Club in Glenview for another beautiful day on the links at the 32nd Annual Ramblers Golf Outing. Over the past three decades, the outing has become a beloved Loyola tradition, raising more than $250,000 in support of the school’s Tuition Assistance Program.

Guests were welcomed with lunch before heading out for an afternoon of golf. Opening remarks from Marty Jennings ’98, Director of Advancement and a prayer from Loyola Academy President Rev. Gregory J. Ostdiek, SJ set the tone for the day, followed by the million-dollar shot contest featuring Chris Cagadas ’98, Mike Stanton ’86, Brendan Kelly P ’17, ’19, ’20, ’22, ’24 and Patrick Adler ’21.

Throughout the course, participants enjoyed contests, tastings and opportunities to win an impressive lineup of prizes. At hole 3, golfers took their shot at a hole-in-one and a 2026 VW Atlas, donated by John Jennings ’79 and Jennings Volkswagen-Chevrolet. At hole 8, a hole-in-one could have earned a 2026 BMW 228i xDrive sedan, donated by Hanley Dawson IV ’86, P ’17, ’19 and Patrick Cars. While neither car found a winner this year, the contests added plenty of excitement to the round.

Other favorites included Longest Drive on hole 12 and Closest to the Pin on hole 3, with winners receiving gift certificates to the NSCC Pro Shop donated by Rambler members of North Shore Country Club. New this year, golfers also enjoyed tastings from Two Eagles Distillery, courtesy of Jesse Zien ’00, and Blue Ash Farms, courtesy of Bill O’Donnell Jr. ’82, at hole 13.

The day’s raffle featured another outstanding collection of prizes, including two tickets to the Chicago Cubs vs. Miami Marlins game at Wrigley Field on Tuesday, September 22; four tickets to Northwestern Homecoming vs. Ball State at Ryan Field on Saturday, October 10; and two tickets to the Chicago Bears vs. Detroit Lions game at Soldier Field on Sunday, January 3, all donated by Reb Banas ’81 P ’16, ’17, ’23. Ryan O’Donnell ’95 P ’30 and Ballyhoo Hospitality also donated a Ballyhoo Hospitality Dining & Swag Package featuring a $300 gift card to any Ballyhoo restaurant, restaurant merchandise, a Ballyhoo-branded golf club head cover and more.

On the course, Richard Adler ’78 P ’21, Patrick Adler ’21, John Perkaus ’78 and Mark O’Toole ’78 took first place in the gross scoring competition. In the Peoria scoring competition, Olga Gvozdenovic ’99, Brett Rausch, Kara Gibney and Chad McRoberts earned first place.

George Sargent ’88 P ’17, ’19, ’22 took Closest to the Pin honors on hole 3, while Jack Penn ’14 and Courtney O’Connor ’05 recorded the men’s and women’s Longest Drives, respectively, on hole 12.

Congratulations as well to our raffle winners: Jim O’Brien ’15, Cubs tickets; Mike Scott P ’30, Northwestern Homecoming tickets; Dan Baker P ’16, ’24, Bears tickets; and Bob O’Keefe P ’29, ’29, the Ballyhoo package.
